Oregon Tree Planting: Wildfire Reforestation Initiatives
Reforesting Oregon’s megafire-damaged landscapes
Oregon's forests, essential for diverse wildlife and vital ecological services, are under severe threat from devastating, climate-exacerbated fires. A century of fire suppression has left many forests overgrown, creating perfect conditions for megafires.
These are fires affecting an area greater than 45,500 hectares (100,000 acres). The 2020 Labor Day wind storms created five megafires that, along with 12 smaller fires, decimated timber resources, displaced communities, and destroyed wildlife habitats.
In response, reforestation efforts focused on replanting native species and promoting natural regeneration are critical for restoring these landscapes, mitigating erosion, and preserving biodiversity.
myHerb proudly supports the Oregon Forestry Department’s latest initiative to restore wildfire-affected areas by planting native Pacific Northwest trees, fostering healthy habitats for Deer, Elk, Cougar, Bear, Trout, and Spotted Owl. This project exemplifies our commitment to ecological restoration and sustainable forestry practices that revitalize local ecosystems.
